.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad, Minister of Culture, met with a group of French architects in the presence of Bahrain consultant architect, Mohammad Salah Eddine. During the meeting, they discussed the new proposed building of the Ministry of Culture, which received the budget approval and full support of H.R.H. Prince Khalifa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister. The Minister of Culture agreed with the French architects on the main guidelines, the stages of implementing the project and the duration of works so that employees of the Ministry can move to the new building as soon as possible.
The Minister of Culture Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-khalifa opened a Fine Art exhibition for well-known artists from the Arab World, Asia and Europe. The exhibition showcases modern art masterpieces, mosaic, Arabic Calligraphy and other schools of art. The exhibition included valuable collection of wonderful modern plastic Art and Arabic script in cooperation with ART SELECT and ART SPACE who have a fine collection of well-known artist work. This is indeed the first time that the Arts Center gathers such an exhibition, after Gallery Gothiard during their tour in the Arab world.

We all Read Campaign organized an event titled "The Best Book I ever Red" at al Barih Café Gallery in Adliya, where many young readers gathered in order to share other reading experiences and books. Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa received a delegation from TUI Cruises led by Ms. Tina and discussed the planned trip. TUI cruise ship will dock in Bahrain during the cruise season, scheduled to open in November and run until April 2013.The delegation expressed its desire to organize twenty trips, on the basis one weekly cruise ship with 2000 passengers aboard.

Minister of Culture, Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Governor of the Southern Governorate, Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, to discuss means and ways of enhancing the mutual cooperation between the two sides. The meeting also discussed the vital projects concerning the development of certain archaeological sites and boosting the cultural infrastructure in other sites, which are located in the Southern Governorate, such as Al-Rifaa Fort, Tree of Life site and Hawar Islands. In fact, these sites are seen as the basis for launching a campaign to promote Bahrain as a cultural tourist destination.
Shaikha Mai received Russian Ambassador Victor Smirnov and discussed the planned visit and means of promoting bilateral cooperation. Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa will visit St. Petersburg, Russia, to attend the 36th session of the World Heritage Commission. The session will discuss adding 38 new sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List, including the "Pearl Route" project, as well as another third site, which is the "Burial Mounds", a site that is expected hopefully to be inscribed on the World Heritage List in the coming years.

The heritage site is a serial site consisting of 15 maritime, seashore and urban properties identified as most vividly reflecting key social, cultural and economic aspects of the grand narrative of Bahrain's pearling activities. Together, the nominated properties represent the culmination and final expression of some 7,000 years of pearling history in the Arabian Gulf, a tradition that fostered the creation of the grand narrative of Bahrain's pearling economy.

HE Shaikha Mai will be opening an important archeological exhibition of funerary artifacts dating to the Tylos era in Bahrain in the State Hermitage, which will be open to the public from 3rd July. This important exhibition will remain in St Petersburg for local visitors until 30th September 2012 before moving to Moscow.
The Bahrain Pearling Trail has been included on Unesco's World Heritage list, it was announced yesterday.
The decision came as the 21-member World Heritage Committee, the independent body responsible for the World Heritage Convention, met in St Petersburg, Russia.

The fourth annual Bahrain Summer Festival was launched today under the patronage of HE Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Minister of Culture at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre (BIECC). The festival runs until 15th July 2012.
The Ministry of Culture announced today that tickets for the Bahrain Summer Festival 2012 under the theme “Manama, City of Joy” are now on sale. Tickets for the various shows can be bought at Virgin Megastore, Bahrain City Centre or electronically through Virgin Megastore’s website virginmegastore.me. This is the fourth consecutive year for the festival, which is taking place at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre (BIECC) in Sanabis from June 14th to July 15th 2012.
