In his lecture, Dr. Mounir Bouchenaki, ex-Director-General of UNESCO's ICCROM (International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property) argued that in it its standard-setting capacity, UNESCO has produced several binding international legal instruments in core areas of culture.

H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, Culture Minister, yesterday received St Petersburg-based State Hermitage Museum director-general Michael Petrovsky and Moscow-based State Museum of Oriental Art director Alexander Sedov, who had arrived in Bahrain to participate in the" Month of Museums" theme as part of festivities marking Manama Capital of Arab Culture.
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa today deputized Supreme Council for Youth and sport Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa to open the 20th Heritage Festival.

The expo is being organized by the Ministry of Culture at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre. Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohamed Al-Khalifa, senior officials and guests attended opening ceremony.

During the 3rd GCC Undersecretaries for Archaeology and Museums Conference, held at the Diplomat hotel on 21st of May, H.E Shaikha Mai bit Mohammad Al Kahlifa, Minister of Culture said that " We have to explore and understand GCC vital experiences in archaeology and excavations, we need to enhance and promote the leading role of Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH), within a framework of GGC mechanism, which aims at boosting performance and sustainable cooperation. GCC countries are at the dawn of new era of collaboration and union, a crucial step to preserve identity and specificity, in addition to advanced achievements in history and archaeology by setting communication mechanisms through regional organizations. We all aim to come out with common recommendations", she declared.
Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa today received HSBC Bank Chief Executive Officer Patrick Gallagher and discussed the issue of revitalizing Bab al- Bahrain area. The old HSBC bank premises could be soon transformed into a museum for fine artists as part of efforts to revitalize Bab Al-Bahrain.

Enkiro Educational and Entertainment Tour Bus showcasing

The Enkiro Bus Museum is a mobile exposition based on the Tylos exhibition and designed for children aged seven to eleven years-old, which is touring Bahrain's Special Needs Centers these days in Isa Town. The students were supervised and accompanied by the education group of Bahrain Fort's museum, who explained the Tylos exhibition and the archaeological findings dating back to 2nd century B.C and 3rd century A.D

Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa met today with the Tourism Supreme Council’s (TSC) members at Bahrain National Museum to discuss means of promoting tourism in the Kingdom of Bahrain. H.E informed the council members about the Cabinet’s approval of an Islamic Development Bank loan, which was proposed by the Arab Tourism Organization meeting in Charm-el-Sheik to support tourism sector in Arab countries affected by the current events.

The Ministry of Culture held a press conference today, 28th May, at the Bahrain National Museum to launch the details for the fourth annual Bahrain Summer Festival. The month-long programme of events, this year centred around the slogan of 'Manama, the City of Joy,' is scheduled to begin on 14th June and will take place at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre (BIECC). Catering for local and regional audiences, the programme this year falls in line with the mission of the Ministry of Culture's Capital of Arab Culture programme to provide multi-disciplinary learning opportunities and cultural exchanges.

HRH Waleed Walid bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud visits Tylos Exhibition at the National Museuem, praising the Minister of Culture's efforts to protect the national identity
Following an invitation from the Ministry of Culture, His Royal Highness Prince Al-Walid bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud today visited Bahrain National Museum.
He was welcomed by Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, who thanked him for accepting the invitation, hailing his keen interest in various cultural and media aspects in Bahrain.
Minister of Culture Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa participated in meetings of the International Jury for the Takreem (honour) initiative of Arab achievements held in Paris last week. The jury is assigned to select top 10 successful Arab personalities.
A preliminary review of the files of all nominees for this year’s TAKREEM Arab achievement Awards Edition took place in Beirut on April 19 and 20 when the initial Selection Committees met. The files of short-listed candidates were then made available to the International Jury, members of which are drawn from all over the Arab world and beyond.
