Role


Main Activities:

  • Prepare the strategic plan for tourism in association with other stakeholders.
  • Licensing all tourism related activities hotels, hotel apartments, tour operators, travel agents and tour guides.
  • Quality assurance for all accommodation, travel & tourism establishments, tour guides.
  • Implementation of hotel classification schemes.
  • Promotional and marketing activities including participating in trade shows, organizing inbound and outbound road shows, press trips, advertising, and public relations activities with the objective of increasing the awareness about Bahrain internationally and to support the operations of the private sector.
  • Capacity building for the tourism sector.
  • Compiling data and statistics for planning purpose.

 Strategic Targets:

  • To increase the contribution of tourism to the GDB.
  • To increase average stay of international tourists to a minimum of three tourist night.
  • To increase the average spent per tourist.
  • To increase the level of Bahrainization to a minimum of 40% .
  • To maximize the utilization of tourism as a tool for social and economic development.
